Patio Refurbishment

The JJ Group were recently asked to carry out improvement works to two areas of a customer’s property. The first was two replace the frame and brick wall to a patio end and the other was to replace silicone and beads to a sunroom.

Patio Refurbishment

Our team removed the previous black timber frame at the end of the patio and safely and responsibly disposed of it. Groundwork then had to be completed before the new air dried oak posts were installed. This included removing the two walls currently in situ and stripping back the patio pavers by three or so rows to allow room to work on the foundations of the new brick walls and to put the new posts in. We then dug the required foundations and pockets for the oak posts and brick walls.

Sustainable and budget friendly

The bricks were cleaned and reused to rebuild the walls once the posts had been installed into the foundations. Reusing the existing bricks was more environmentally friendly and saved the customer money as purchasing new wasn’t necessary.

Minor repairs were also completed on the steps on the edge of the patio. We always strive to repair any works if that will suffice and only replace when necessary.

Lastly, the JJ Group completed the first coat of paint to the new oak frame and then handed over to the customer’s own decorator to complete.

Sunroom

The same customer also required some work on their sunroom. Some of the beads around the windows needed replacing. Beads are the strips of timber applied to the edge of a windowpane to hold it in place within the frame. Over time, beads can become damaged or rot. If left to deteriorate they can alter the weight distribution of the glass which can lead to cracks. It can also affect the energy efficiency of the window.

Sealing

As well as manufacturing and installing the new beads we also sealed them with an anti mould, waterproof sealant. Lastly, as this project is ongoing, we will re-seal the remaining beads which didn’t require replacement.

By maintaining the windows our customer is preventing larger problems or accidents occurring down the line which would be much more costly. A sunroom is a beautiful feature to a home and must be looked after to ensure not only maximum energy efficiency but also enjoyment for the homeowner.
