Recent Bespoke Door Installations

At JJ Group, bespoke door installation has been one of our most in-demand services so far in 2025 – and for good reason. Homeowners and property developers alike are investing in joinery that doesn’t just fill a gap, but adds real value and character to their homes. Whether it’s a grand front entrance or elegant internal door sets, our workshop in Heathfield has been busy designing custom solutions that blend traditional techniques with modern needs.

We offer a tailored service for our clients; managing each project from start to finish or supplying high-quality joinery for others to install. Below, we showcase four of our recent bespoke door projects, each reflecting the craftsmanship and flexibility we bring to every commission.

Red Front Door

This project involved the manufacture of a statement front door and frame for a residential property. The customer wanted something vibrant, long-lasting, and unique – and our team delivered. This striking front entrance was a great example of our complete bespoke door installation service.

We constructed the frame using Sapele, a robust hardwood ideal for external joinery and the door from Accoya: a high-performance timber known for its stability, durability, and resistance to rot. Both materials are well-suited to external conditions and ensure a long service life with minimal maintenance.

The frame was factory-sprayed white on both sides, with a walnut-stained seal to add depth and richness. The door featured a bold red finish externally and a clean white finish inside, offering a striking contrast and a fresh, bright feel indoors. The ironmongery was finished in brass, adding a touch of traditional charm. It was carefully fitted into the freestanding door frame prior to painting, which allows us to make precise adjustments before final finishing.

This approach ensures that every element of our bespoke doors, from the paintwork to the fit, meets the highest standards before it leaves our workshop.

Double Bedroom Doors

For this project, we created and installed a pair of internal bedroom doors that needed to be both functional and in keeping with the property’s existing character. We used solid Tulipwood for the doors, a stable and smooth timber that takes primer and paint beautifully.

The design included clean, recessed solid panels, giving the doors a timeless, understated look. We hung them on chrome butt hinges which allowed them to open fully back against the wall – a subtle but practical touch for better space usage. They were secured with flush bolts, which sit neatly within the door edge and finished with stylish pull handles for ease of use.

To complete the installation, we produced bespoke infill panels above and beside the doors to fill the surrounding space neatly and ensure a cohesive appearance.

We primed the entire set in our workshop, leaving it ready for painting on site by the customer’s chosen decorator. This highlights the flexibility of working with JJ Group: we can handle the full finish or prepare bespoke doors to slot smoothly into your wider project team.

Blue and White Entrance Door

This beautiful front door was commissioned by a homeowner looking for something unique yet sympathetic to the character of their property. The brief was clear: create a welcoming and bold exterior with a light, bright interior to help lift a narrow hallway with limited natural light.

We manufactured the door using Accoya, known for its superior durability and painted the exterior in a rich royal blue – a colour choice that gives real kerb appeal and a strong first impression. For the interior, the client chose white to reflect light and open up the entrance space. Thanks to our bespoke service, each side of the door can be painted in a different colour – an option many clients find appealing when tailoring their bespoke doors to suit both interior and exterior schemes.

We not only made the door, but also carried out the fitting ourselves. This gave us full control over the finish and fit, ensuring the end result was as sharp and precise as it was eye-catching.

Internal Doors for London Home

This large-scale project took us to a residential property in the City of London, where we were asked to design, manufacture, and install five pairs of internal double doors. The client was looking for a high-quality solution that would improve the function and finish of multiple rooms throughout their home.

We used Accoya timber for each door, double glazed them with toughened glass, and factory-primed them for finishing on site. These bespoke doors were installed into existing door frames, helping the client retain original architectural features while upgrading performance and appearance.

To further improve the entranceway of each room, we also supplied and installed new base thresholds. These additions help prevent water ingress and reduce drafts, making them a practical improvement as well as a visual one. Each pair of doors was fitted with chrome hinges to match the rest of the home’s interior hardware.

Although based outside of London, we had no issue delivering and fitting the joinery thanks to our small team of trusted contractors who work across the South East. This is a great example of how our team can handle large-scale bespoke door installation projects, even when based outside our immediate area For projects of any size, near or far, JJ Group is well-equipped to deliver.
