A downstairs cloakroom can be a space-effective and practical solution for many homes. The importance of a downstairs cloakroom is completely dependent on how you and your family live. If you have a good amount of space then we can create something really special for you; it doesn’t always just have to be a sink and a toilet!
Why you need a downstairs cloakroom
A downstairs cloakroom not only offers standard bathroom facilities, it can also be a convenient place for you to store coats, hats, and other outerwear, keeping your hallway entrance organised. Having a room just off an entrance or lobby prevents the clutter from everyday life showing. A simple storage solution from The JJ Group can be enough to maximise your space and make you wonder how everything fits!
Most modern houses will have a downstairs loo, but if the space prevails, then let us create something a bit more interesting for you!
Cloakrooms often take up very little space and can be incorporated by the front door or even under your staircase, whatever works best for your home. When working in tighter spaces everything must be designed and manufactured with your space in mind. Cupboards, hanging space, storage boxes, shoe racks…every unit that leaves our workshop has been carefully planned and executed in order to leave you with a completely functional and beautiful cloakroom.
The benefits of a cloakroom go beyond just storage. Having access to a downstairs toilet and basin adds so much convenience to your day-to-day life, especially if you have a large family or guests over. Having a toilet on each floor means that people won’t have to go up or down stairs to use the bathroom. Which can save time and make it easier for everyone to access the facilities they need, regardless of their mobility. On top of this, the additional value you add to your home is noticeable. Having multiple toilets are often much more desirable.
What to include in your downstairs cloakroom
When it comes to answering this question the first thing you need to establish is how much space you are willing to allocate. Some of our customers have been known to knock the walls out of a small downstairs loo, into a larger room next door, that can become a catch all for storage, convenience as well as a sink and toilet. If you have the space to include a shoe rack as well as hanging space for hats and coats then by all means you should pursue that. However, if you’re not flush for space then incorporating priority storage will still make a noticeable difference. If you have any further ideas about what you would like to add we are more than happy to discuss the potential of these with you.
